NC State head coach Jimbo Fisher, along with UCF head coach Charlie Strong, will return to work in a week and a half to prepare for the season’s first playoff game.
The game against Georgia Tech is the first of two scheduled on Sunday, Dec. 14, with the rest of the schedule to be announced later.
“I know they have a great team and we’re excited about the challenge ahead,” Fisher said.

The Wolfpack went 6-2 in 2016-17, finishing 11-3 overall and 12-2 at home, earning the No. 4 seed in the AAC Conference.
UCF went 10-6 in 2016 and 13-2 overall, finishing 10-5 at home and winning the MAC East division crown.
The road to the ACC Tournament and playoff starts on Dec. 13 at Miami (Ohio).
The ACC Tournament begins the following week, Dec 15.
UCFC will host NC State in its first-ever ACC Tournament match.NC State will host Miami (OH) on Dec 15 and UCFC vs. NC State on Dec 16 at 8 p.m.
The ACC will have four teams in the first round: Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Louisville and Syracuse.
The winner of that round will play the runner-up in the conference title game.
Georgia Tech will host Virginia Tech on Dec 10 and UCSC vs. Virginia Tech at 8:30 p.d.
Louisville will host North Carolina on Dec 12 and NC State vs. UNC on Dec 13 at noon.
The winner of the ACC/ACC Championship will play a conference title-clinching game at 7 p.b. on Dec 14 against Georgia.
The first round of the NCAA Tournament will consist of 16 teams.
The remaining 12 will be seeded based on their overall record, including a tiebreaker.
The second round of play will consist.
of eight teams.
A team from each conference will face a third-place team in a three-team, first-round format.
The two teams that win their first-leg will advance to the semifinals and face off in a four-team bracket.
